This page lists poker games in which players can pay an extra amount to the pot in exchange for some priviliege. This payment is not a bet - the other players do not have to match it to stay in - it is simply an extra contribution to the pot, which will be collected by the eventual winner. The privilege may for example be to obtain an extra card or a wild card, or to exchange one or more cards in the hope of getting better ones. In some cases the receipt of a certain card may force a player to pay a sum to the pot or fold.
The index below lists poker games that involve buying - both traditional variants and invented variants (listed in italics). The game types column shows other categories to which some games also belong. See also the full index of poker variants, which includes an explanation of the categories.
