The Aquarian Tarot Deck was first published by Morgan Press in 1970. It is now printed by AG Müller and distributed by U.S. Games Systems, Inc., a major North American tarot deck distributor. The deck was created and illustrated by David Palladini.
Palladini combined the symbols of the traditional Tarot with more modern, updated images in a combination of Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. He created a unique blend of colourful, emotive backgrounds with pale faced, stoic characters. Depending on one's response to the deck, these images and colours may allow the querent to identify with the card in question to a more personal degree. On the other hand, some may find the depicted characters to lack expressiveness and the deck difficult to connect with. The scenes are more close-up than, for example, in the case of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck.
"Psychic Tarot", a book that teaches tarot divination, basic psychic development skills and the use of intuition in reading Tarot cards, is illustrated with the Aquarian Tarot Deck. Psychic Tarot is also sold as the companion explanatory text for the Aquarian Tarot deck. It was written by Craig Junjulas and was published circa 1985 by Morgan Press (ISBN 0-88079-300-7).
Palladini had been one of the contributing artists to the Linweave Tarot Pack, published by Brown Company, Pulp, Paper and Board Division, in 1967, as a promotional product for Linweave paper products.
In 1996, some twenty-five years after the first publication of the Aquarian deck, Palladini's second full deck, the New Palladini Tarot, was published.
