Eva Moser (born July 26, 1982 in Tamsweg, Austria) is a chess Woman Grandmaster and International Master who has won both the men's and women's Austrian Chess Championship, and has represented Austria in four Chess Olympiads.
Moser started playing chess at the age of 10. She won the Austrian Girl's Chess Championship, in various age groups, eight times.
In 1998 Moser finished equal first, and won the silver medal, at the Under 16 Girl's European Youth Chess Championship in Mureck, behind Ana Matnadze who won on tie-break. The same year, she finished fifth in the Under 16 Girl's World Youth Chess Championship in Oropesa del Mar.
Moser represented Austria in the open chess Mitropa Cup three times in 1999, 2002, and 2004. Her best result was in Zemplínska šírava 2004 when she scored 5/8 with an Elo performance rating of 2574.
Moser represented Austria in four Chess Olympiads, in Istanbul 2000, with the men's team in Calvià 2004, in Dresden 2008 and Khanty-Mansiysk 2010. Her best result was in the 38th Chess Olympiad in Dresden 2008, where she scored 8.5/10 and finished 6th on board 1 of the women's team.
She also represented Austria in five European Women's Team Chess Championships from 2003 to 2013. Her best result was at her debut in Plovdiv 2003, where she scored 6/9 to win the individual Bronze medal on board 1.
Moser was awarded the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in 2003 (Austria's first WGM), and became an open International Master (IM) in 2004.
In 2006 she won the men's Austrian Chess Championship in Köflach, becoming the first woman to do so. She won the Austrian Women's Chess Championship in 2010 and 2011.
She won, or jointly won, a number of international tournaments including the Dresden (women) 2000, Jena Open in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, and Chess Ladies Vienna 2012 and 2013.
In 2006/07 her Austrian First League team Styria Graz became Austrian Team Champion. She now plays for the team Wolfsberg in Austria; and OSG Baden-Baden in the German Women's Chess Bundesliga winning at least five times, and dominating for many years.
Moser has also published a small number of instructional chess DVDs with ChessBase.
Moser completed a degree in Business Administration in Graz in 2009. She works for the Austrian chess magazine "Schach-Aktiv".
